    Born in Austria, a small European country globally known for its rich history, music, art,
    and grand cultural celebrations. From there, her personal and professional life took her
    to different parts of the world, while San Miguel de Allende has remained a constant home for the last four decades. Developed educational programs and cultural connections, dedicated to language teaching and the organization of global communication events between Europe, the United States, and Latin America.Created and facilitated opportunities for social service and cultural exchange for students in the United States, Europe, Central America, and South America. She holds international degrees from Austria, France, Mexico and is an avid patron of the arts.

  • Rosalba Márquez Morales

    Born in the State of Guanajuato, internationalist by profession and resident of San Miguel de Allende for more than 16 years where I have had the opportunity to work in the public and private sector, Fundación CEM A.C. now gives me the opportunity to promote actions that foster cultural, social and educational exchange between Mexico and the world. I am proud to participate in events that contribute to positive changes that must take place within our city, a task that will bring a new perspective of San Miguel de Allende to the world.

  • Javier Arteaga Nieto

    Lawyer by profession, with a Master's Degree in Tax Law and Doctorate in Law, Co-Founder and Director of Tax Defense in the Firm Arteaga & Nieto Tax Consultants, Legal Director in the main company of Simulation and Computer Aided Design in Mexico, Lecturer at national level and Specialist in Tax Defense and Amparo, with more than 25 years of experience in Legal Defense in Federal Courts. Co-founder and former President of the SMA Network of Higher Education Institutions.

  • Eduardo Adame Goddard

    Mexican, Industrial Engineer from UIA with two Master's Degrees in Operations Research in Zurich, Switzerland and in Business Administration at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

    He has lived in Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende and, as a student, in England, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy. Eduardo worked for 20 years in banking and then for more than 25 years as an entrepreneur and consultant in the banking and e-commerce sector.

    He is a lover of fine arts and for several years has been part of the board of directors of Fundación Casa de Europa in Mexico and served as its president from 2020 to 2023.

  • Marco Provencio 

    Marco Provencio graduated in Economics from Universidad Iberoamericana (1977-1988) and earned his master's degree in Economics from Princeton University (1984-1986). He worked in the public sector for 20 years, mainly at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concluding his career as Director General of Social Communication and Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic in the year 2000.


    Since 2002, Mr. Provencio has been Managing Partner at PRoa, a consulting firm specializing in public affairs communication. He also serves as an Independent Advisor for various companies and was a member of the International Council of United World Colleges, an international educational institution based in London, United Kingdom.


    His connection to San Miguel de Allende dates back to 1979, when his parents, Marco and Rusca Provencio, moved to live in San Miguel.

  • Goerdt Abel

    Philanthropist and entrepreneur, Goerdt Abel, originally from West Germany, studied at the Vienna University of Technology and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. CEO of the family company "Abel GmbH & Co KG" in Essen; founder of "Big Machine, Inc". Together with his son Goddard Abel with locations in Chicago, USA and Frankfurt, Germany. Since 2011 he has been contributing his expertise in different civil non-profit organizations such as YPO "Young Presidents Organization" where he has served as president of the Pittsburgh, PA chapter and president of the Europe chapter. Author of 2 books: "Steinach und die Wahrheiten" and "Abel-Flener".

  • Leandro Arellano

    Born in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato. He studied law at UNAM. He is a writer and diplomat. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he held several positions, among them Director General of the Foreign Service. Abroad he served in the Mexican embassies in Vienna, London and the Mission in New York. He was Ambassador of Mexico to Kenya, Romania, Republic of Korea, El Salvador and Venezuela. Retired in 2016. Holder of the Fernando Solana Chair - UNAM 2017-2019; Author of 4 books: Guerra privada, Los pasos del cielo, Paisaje oriental, Las horas situadas. He has translated short stories by Raymond Carver, John Cheever, W. Somerset Maugham and Guy de Maupassant; he was a contributor to La Jornada Semanal in the culture supplement and currently collaborates in the magazines ADE and cambiavías.

Laura Brown 

Laura Brown earned her Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad Anáhuac and a Master's degree in Finance from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. For 20 years, she worked in various areas of public project development and financing. At the North American Development Bank (NADB), a binational financial institution of the governments of Mexico and the United States, she served as Director of Projects and Director of Credit.

Subsequently, for 10 years, she was the Executive Director of UWC México, an authorized nonprofit organization that supports high school studies for underprivileged youth at United World Colleges

  • Vanessa Garay


    Vanessa Garay was born in Mexico City, grew up in San Miguel de Allende, lived in 7 countries and has traveled to over 100 countries.  She is a citizen of the world, is bi-cultural and speaks several languages. Vanessa has a passion for education, communication and cultural connections. She holds a B.A. in International Relations with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean from Rollins College in Florida in the United States and an M.A. in International Relations from Universidad Complutense (IUOYG) in Spain. 
    Prior to working in real estate at San Miguel Sotheby's International Realty as one of the top real estate agents in San Miguel de Allende as she does now, Vanessa worked at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, England, at the Monet and Versailles Foundations in France and worked as Director of International Admissions at Rollins College in the United States.
